Bread recipes are easy to come by but easy ones are harder to spot. Kneading and proving time lends many recipes to have disastrous results, often a flat and flavourless loaf.

But one savvy mum has found a straightforward alternative "perfect for those emergency situations when you didn't realise that you were going to run out of bread".

Taking to TikTok to share her clever creation, This mum cooks @thismumcooks shared her "30p emergency bread" recipe.

She explained: "This is a 30p loaf that uses just two ingredients and cooks in just half an hour in the air fryer."

Unlike many viral bread recipes, it swaps yoghurt for an ingredient you're even more likely to have in the fridge.

If claims that the bread "tastes absolutely delicious" weren't enough to make people want to try it, the TikTok-famous mum makes it even more desirable by swapping yoghurt for milk.

Instead of many viral flatbread and pitta bread recipes which combine Greek yoghurt with flour, this one makes a proper white sandwich loaf.

Comprised of just self-raising flour and milk, @thismumcooks revealed that the recipe uses the same quantities of each ingredient, making it impossible to forget.

Ingredients

250g self-raising flour

250ml milk (or plant-based alternative)

How to make bread in an air fryer

Take a large mixing bowl and add the flour - the TikTok mum said there's no need to sift it but you can hand-whisk it for a second instead to remove any lumps.

Add the milk to the flour and stir together really well. Avoid overmixing as this will make the bread "really tough". Now line a loaf or cake tin with a sheet of baking paper before adding the mixture to the tin and spreading the top to level it.

Bake in an air fryer at 190C (on a bread setting if you have one) for 35 minutes. Showing the final result, 'This mum cooks' said: "Look how perfect this turned out."

She noted that the loaf can be cooked in an oven instead at the same temperature (190C) and suggested using a skewer to test whether it's done. If it comes out clean the bread is ready to eat.
